No war; make love

DSCF4042Graffiti on a quite beautiful swiss bridge.

All along the way I saw many many this kinda graffiti on walls, posts, telegraph poles, tableaus, everywhere. I remembered some. A very big "SNK" (a hero in DOTA) and "Reméo et Juilette"s, which represented all the romantic swears recorded in Euro.

Among all these related or not related words, this one impressed me the most. "No War Make Love" Simple words, far more effective than a prof’s passionate one-hour speech, were especially powerful cuz simplicity focused quickly and straightly.

I guess it was not written by Swiss cuz Swiss, thanks to its neutrality, hasn’t suffered from war for hundreds of years. Maybe a man who lost his love in a war happened to pass by and left his cravings here.

Switzerland is a perfect answer to the question, "if there were no war, how properous we’d be now?" Peace brought to this country enormous prosperity, rightly or wrongly (think of UBS). With no obvious geographical or natural advantage, Switzerland had risen to one of the, if not the first, devoloped country around the world. Citizen here enjoyed nicest air, prettiest scenery and overall welfare. Maybe it was also a unsaying mock to the war-zealots’ short-sightedness. But greed and desire are always short-sighted; we can’t help it :(

Ifs can’t be tested in history, but can be in the future. I believe that all people, regardless to race, gender, political or religious commitment, are fundamentally similiar and essentialy the same. We share nearly the same emotions: joy and pain, bliss and sorrow; we share the same blue sky and sea; we breathe together; our heartbeats coincide millions of times; we’re related; we can and should love each other. Why the complex real world is so different from the way we imagine it? 1.Well, when I was young, my grandma told me that the western world was full of gunfire and violence. Yet now, I know, as I’ve seen, it’s not the truth. A US girl once told me that I was not evil-natured as her mother called asian people. So the prejudice is going on and it takes communication to restore the original conception. 2.Different nations have different interests and sometimes they contradict. Sino-American relationship is difficult to settle cuz their interests lie in seperated grounds and when the win-win situation breaks down, the war, cold or hot, will come. 3.Many people don’t really care about others’ going-throughs. "If everyone wants peace instead of a new television, then we’ll have peace." Yet sadfully, "Television" dominate in reality. Besides, many many. In conclusion, we’re seperated by geography, language, nationality, faith…really a bulk of things, but I hope one thing can unite us together, a common dream to make this world a better place.

Nowadays there hasn’t been a major war, but regional seperation, terrorist movement and crossfire are always going on. (Think of Tibet, Georgia and Gaza) By the way, here I want to mention that all the medias are manipulated to create public opinion, especially during wartime (think of Brittish radio celebrating a owning victory over Germans when actually had lost 50,00 soldiers in a single battle) I don’t want to argue "Damn free Tibet" or "Shame on West", cuz personally I’ve never been to Tibet and don’t know what is really going on (think of the possibility that domestic media is also being manipulated). However, there is one thing I know for sure: Seeing is believing and without investigation, one’d better not say anything.
